Xenophontas (Fontas) Moschogiannis (born January 21, 1977 in Pyrgos, Elis, Greece) is a Greek footballer defender. He is playing the 2008-09 season for Beta Ethniki club Ethnikos Piraeus on loan from his club Asteras Tripolis of the Greek Super League. Moschogiannis previously played in the Greek Super League with OFI Crete, Kerkyra FC and Asteras Tripolis. Within the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield player whose primary role is to prevent the opposition from scoring. There are four types of defender - centre back, sweeper, full back, and wing back. The centre back and the full back positions are essential in most modern formations. The sweeper and winger back roles are more specialized for certain formations.
