Yeshua Bar Yosef

Yeshua bar Yosef - "Jesus, son of Joseph" - was a very common name in first-century Israel. It has been calculated that a thousand men and boys probably bore this name in Jerusalem alone. The name was probably one borne by Jesus Christ or Jesus of Nazareth. Simcha Jacobovici claims to have uncovered the family tomb of Jesus Christ upon finding an undecorated ossuary with the name Yeshua bar Yosef scratched onto it. Other ossuaries having the names of known family members were also found in the tomb, along with his possible wife, Mariamne, Mary Magdalene and possible son, Yehuda bar Yeshua (Judah). He recounts his discovery and his analysis as this likely being the family tomb of Jesus in his book, The Jesus Family Tomb: The Discovery, the Investigation, and the Evidence That Could Change History co-authored with Charles R. Pellegrino. A documentary film, The Lost Tomb of Jesus, was produced with film maker James Cameron and released on The Discovery Channel in March 2007.
