'Your Church Newly Built . .': a History of the Holy Trinity, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire

The church of the Holy Trinity in the small Cotswold town of Minchinhampton traces its origins back to Domesday. The medieval church was largely demolished and rebuilt in the 1840s but the church's south transept remains amongst the finest examples of Decorated architecture in the region. A recent reordering of the church led to extensive archaeological fieldwork and research which has given us a new understanding of the church and its community from its origins to the present day. This book tells that story weaving evidence drawn from the standing remains, archaeological excavations and documentary sources including churchwardens' accounts, eyewitness records, illustrations and plans. 'Your church newly built...' is the story of a Cotswold church, but also of the church in England, and how the building that lies at the heart of each parish reflects the history of its people, their beliefs, and their ambitions.
