Yuri Nemyrych

Yuri Nemyrych (Ukrainian: ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿, Polish: Jerzy Niemirycz) (1612-1659) was a Ruthenian politician. Yuri Nemyrych was born in Ovruch, Kievan Polesia, into a noble family. He studied at the Racovian Academy, then in Leiden, and travelled across Western Europe. After his return into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, he became a well-educated magnate and a Ruthenian politician (gente Ruthenus natione Polonus). An Arian, Nemerych defended Anti-Trinitarians in court and in parliament in the 1640s, and supported George II Rákóczi as candidate for the Polish-Lithuanian throne in 1648. During the Deluge, as an Arian, he switched to the Swedish side in 1655, in hopes of improving the Protestant position in the Commonwealth and reconquering his estates in the Ukrainian palatines. He took place in the preparation of the Treaty of Radnot (partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth amongst five signatories: Charles X Gustav of Sweden, György Rákóczi II of Transylvania, Frederick William I, Elector of Brandenburg, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and Bogus¿aw Radziwi¿¿), signed in 1656.
