Yusuf Emre Erdi

Oct. 26, 1964) is a medical physicist who is internationally known for his expertise in positron-emission tomography (PET). He has published extensively on PET imaging and recently on PET/CT combined scanners. His work in the late 1990s let to incorporation of functional information, obtained from PET scans, into external-beam treatment planning systems to augment the anatomical information acquired from CT scans. Dr. Erdi received his Doctor of Science degree in medical engineering/physics in 1995 from George Washington University. He completed a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before joining the staff in 1998. Currently he is the section head of diagnostic imaging physics.
