Ziggy has stared at the Moon through his telescope plenty of times, but this time one question refuses to leave him alone: how did human beings actually get there? With Iggy perched nearby offering his usual doubts, Ziggy activates the mysterious wrist device left behind by his missing scientist father. In an instant, the two friends are swept back to July 1969, where a Saturn V rocket towers above the launch pad and Apollo 11 is preparing to leave Earth. Soon Ziggy and Iggy are following one of the greatest journeys in human history, from the thunder of liftoff to the strange feeling of weightlessness and the careful path across hundreds of thousands of miles of space. Ziggy discovers how rockets overcome gravity, why spacecraft travel in stages, how astronauts breathe and live far from Earth, and why reaching the Moon requires far more than simply pointing a rocket at it. Iggy, meanwhile, becomes increasingly suspicious of any machine powered by enormous amounts of fuel and controlled explosions. As Apollo 11 closes in on the Moon, the adventure becomes more dangerous, more astonishing, and more real than anything Ziggy has ever imagined from his bedroom window. Craters rush beneath them, the lunar module drops toward an uncertain landing site, and Earth hangs like a distant blue world in the black sky. Can Ziggy and Iggy follow the mission all the way to the Moon and still make it safely back home?
