Bible Survey: Old Testament Studies introducesstudents to the major books, themes, covenants, people, events, and redemptive movements of the Old Testament.Students will study creation, the fall, the promise ofredemption, the patriarchs, Israel's deliverance from Egypt, theLaw, the tabernacle, the priesthood, the sacrificial system, thewilderness journey, the conquest of Canaan, the judges, thekingdom of Israel, the divided kingdom, exile, restoration, theprophets, and the promise of the Messiah.This course teaches the Old Testament as part of the unifiedstory of God's redemptive purpose, pointing forward to JesusChrist. Students will learn to read the Old Testament withreverence, context, and Christ-centered understanding.The Old Testament is not disconnected from the Christian faith.It prepares the way for the coming of Christ, reveals God'scovenant faithfulness, exposes humanity's need for redemption, and points forward to the fulfillment found in Jesus Christ.
