Children of the Sea

Since 1985 Island Expedition's Dragan and Nicolas Popov have pioneered environmental and oceanographic education in The Bahamas and Caribbean. They have introduced environmental and cultural awareness to an international array of youth. These young adults from different countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds were exposed to the tropical seas and its vast marine life. Students and teachers alike should leave Island Expedition with a new-found respect and understanding of the natural world around them. The book shows not just the importance of preserving it for its beauty, but preserving it because our survival as a species demands it. There are few experiences like the expeditions offered by the Popov brothers, which illustrate the intricate balance of the environment, especially marine ecosystems, and how closely humans are entwined within it. The book highlights the activities involved on the Island Expeditions and the natural wonders of the Caribbean Sea.
