The management of chronic postoperative pain (CPOP) poses a major challenge for medical teams, particularly due to the complexity of the factors contributing to its onset and the variability in responses to treatment. The objective of our study is to assess the extent to which the practices of anesthesiologists and intensivists in managing CPOP align with clinical practice guidelines, while exploring approaches to prevention and management. Our study is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted over a one-month period in the Sfax region with a sample of 72 anesthesiologists and intensivists.Although the majority of anesthesiologists and intensivists have a general understanding of chronic postoperative pain, certain gaps remain, particularly in the comprehensive identification of risk factors and, more specifically, in the application of optimal treatments. These results highlight the need for continuing education and updates on strategies for the prevention and management of chronic postoperative pain.
