Growth Rotations Of Mandible

Growth rotation of the mandible is an important factor in craniofacial development. It refers to the angular changes in mandibular position that occur during growth. Earlier concepts considered jaw growth to be mainly downward and forward, but implant studies by Björk demonstrated that significant rotational changes occur during childhood and adolescence. These rotations influence facial height, chin position, and occlusal relationships. Forward rotation is commonly associated with reduced lower facial height and deep bite, whereas backward rotation is linked with increased facial height and open bite tendency.
