The album was recorded on August 9, 2008 at Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin. Via an official press release on April 14, 2009: "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King will be available for Pre-Order later this week! Dave Matthews Band, sometimes shortened to DMB, is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1990. Founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley, drummer and backing vocalist Carter Beauford, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. In August 2008, LeRoi Moore died due to complications from an ATV accident.
