Salinization of Groundwater Under Hydrogeological Conditions: in The Southern Aral Sea

The books drying up of the sea has adversely affected the state of the ecosystem. The intensive use of various chemical fertilizers in agriculture, as well as the discharge of collector-drainage waters into the Amu Darya and irrigation canals, is deteriorating the quality of surface and groundwater. Under these conditions, the sources of fresh water are the groundwater lenses associated with sandy deposits along the Amu Darya and the Kyzketken, Kegeyli, Kuvanishjarma, and other canals. At the region's existing water intakes operating these lenses, it has become necessary to protect them from depletion and contamination through storage and desalination. Storage or replenishment of groundwater is a complex of hydrogeological and engineering-technical measures that provide additional artificial feeding. As a result, their reserves are regulated, which allows for obtaining the necessary amount of water and, most importantly, preserving the water-bearing horizon from depletion in the event of its shortage.
