This study compiles statistical and scientific data on the implementation of phytoremediation strategies in Algeria in the areas of domestic wastewater treatment, air pollution biomonitoring, and air purification. The results show that phytoremediation processes currently account for 56% of wastewater treatment processes, with 60 lagooning facilities (52% SLN, 45% SLA, 3% SFP). Regarding air pollution biomonitoring and air purification, it was found that the national ratio of green space area is estimated at 0.7 m² per capita, which remains low and below the international standard of 10 m² per capita; furthermore, 47.52% of green spaces are in fair to poor condition. Regarding the types of green spaces, the following were identified: 48% urban and suburban parks, 19% roadside tree lines, 2% urban forests, etc. The types and composition of vegetation-dominated by trees (acacia, palm, eucalyptus, pine, etc.)-are primarily driven by aesthetic and recreational considerations and do not meet ecological criteria or the need for environmental remediation.
