Technogenic deposits are sedimentary deposits formed as a result of human activity in the environment. Humans have a relationship of dependence on nature, as it is from nature that they derive the resources necessary for their survival. However, this relationship becomes unbalanced when society alters the environment in which it exists to an excessive degree. In this context, research into the formation of technogenic deposits has aided in the preparation of environmental assessments in areas significantly altered by society. Thus, through a case study of the Santo Anastácio river plain, this book aims to assist researchers and others interested in the subject.
